San Diego Chargers Information

2007-08 San Diego Chargers

Norv Turner takes over a Charger's team coming off a season where they fired on all cylinders. First year starter Philip Rivers took over for Drew Brees seamlessly. San Diego tickets should be exciting to have this season, as the defence looks just as strong - in fact, numbers wise, their numbers are looking better than the Colts did in '06 - and they are the Superbowl winners. They do face a tough schedule though, but even getting used to a new coaching style, the Chargers can handle it. Denver has injuries, and the Jags have lost players - all the easier for the Chargers to win. They are definite Superbowl Contenders this season.

Previous Seasons

Despite failing to return to the playoffs during the 2005-2006 season, San Diego Chargers tickets appear to be just a few steps away from finally evolving into one of the NFL’s premier ticket buys. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer’s squad includes last year’s Comeback Player of theYear, quarterback Drew Brees, and running back LaDanian Tomlinson. However, the offensive production fell just short in most of their losses as a number of the Chargers’ defeats were decided by a field goal or less. After posting winning records in back-to-back seasons, the Chargers will spend the off-season searching for the final component to put them near the top of the AFC.

After joining the NFL in 1970, the Chargers faced a difficult decade during the 1970s, but their short history of losing changed under quarterback Dan Fouts. With Fouts and tight end Kellen Winslow combining to form one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats, the Chargers made four consecutive trips to the playoffs. Head coach Don Coryell guided the dominating offense to three straight first-place finishes in the AFC West division. However, even the Hall of Fame duo’s scoring ability failed to earn the Chargers a Super Bowl appearance, and the franchise later missed the postseason for 10 straight years.

Fans at Qualcomm Stadium witnessed a successful Chargers team during the mid-1990s. Led by linebacker Junior Seau, the Chargers’ defense became one of the most formidable opponents in the NFL and earned the team a trip to Super Bowl XXIX in 1994. However, head coach Bobby Ross and the Chargers fell victimto an overpowering San Francisco 49ers’ offense. The team lost in the wild card playoffs during the following season, and San Diego Chargers football tickets were only sold for regular season games for the next eight years. The 2004 trip to the wild card playoffs ended this streak. The Chargers finished first in the AFC West for the first time since their lone Super Bowl season, and Brees’ comeback season proved him to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Now, fans in southern California hope that Schottenheimer’s leadership will lead the franchise to superiority. Opposing teams have shared little success in attempts to stop Tomlinson’s rushing ability, including this season’s incredible performance against the New York Giants. The young running back finished the game with 383 total yards of offense, three rushing scores, and even one passing touchdown. During the off-season, the Chargers will work to understand how to finish games and eliminate opponents’ abilities to remain in the game during the fourth quarter. With additional practice and guidance from a successful head coach, this team can become one of the best teams in the AFC. Get your San Diego Chargers tickets now while they’re still available.
